1000 Gestalten
Project Manager, Photographer, Head of Photography
In July 2017, I played a key role in 1000 Gestalten, a large-scale performance protest staged during the G20 summit in Hamburg. This collective art intervention used visual performance to question consumerism and inspire a vision of human connection beyond capitalist systems.
As part of the core team, I coordinated costume preparation and production management, organized the photo team, and documented the event through my lens. The 1,000 performers—covered in grey clay—moved slowly through Hamburg’s streets, embodying a society numbed by conformity until, in a powerful act of renewal, they broke free from their clay shells, revealing vibrant color beneath.
In 2018, I joined members of the 1000 Gestalten collective at the Tate Modern in London for the Politics, Art and Resistance – Tate Exchange program. We shared insights into the project’s conception and its global impact, contributing to an international dialogue on creative resistance.
The project resonated worldwide, reaching millions through media coverage and viral imagery. Later, I curated an exhibition at Mensch Meier Berlin, extending the conversation around transformation, empathy, and collective awakening.
1000 Gestalten remains a cornerstone of my commitment to art as activism—demonstrating how performance and visual storytelling can challenge systems, awaken emotion, and catalyze cultural change.
